Ive started listening to classical music because its part of my prepartion for O level music.
Listening consists of 65% and listening, together with theory, is my weakest point. Naming the composer, the period (Baroque, romantic, late romantic...) and the genre (classical, symphony, string quartet, opera, orchestra...)
I didnt know that all these will be tested before the lessons starts. The teacher gave us 10 different music and ask us to list the period, genre, composer down and trust me, i got everything wrong. There are only a few questions where i got the period/genre/composer correct with the rest all incorrect.
Thats how weak all of us are. So i decided to start listening to classical music now. There are so many different kinds of composers, scores listed 300 years back ago. I cant possibly listen and remember all of them. What i have to do is to differenate the style of the composers, identify the period and genre.
Composers...I know not more than 6. So i must start preparing now.
Sighs* Thats the life of a musician, or so would i say. Tough life, man.
